In the beginning of 1957, the name Tae Kwon Do was adopted by several Korean martial arts masters. They unified their various art forms under a single style of hand and feet fighting. They named this martial art Tae Kwon Do. Translated from korean “Tae” means to kick with the foot. ” Kwon” means to punch or strike with the hand. “Do” means the art or the way. Tae Kwon Do literally means the “way of kicking and punching.”

Taekwondo develops a person in harmony and balance. One can develop physically (“Tae” and “Kwon”) as well as mentally and morally (“Do”) from the practice of Tae Kwon Do. Mentally, perseverance, self-discipline, self-confidence and self-control are the principle benefits
